What is Quisey?

Quisey is a language discussed in China Mieville's novel The Scar. It is the written language of the Thanati, or aristocratic dead, who live primarily in High Cromlech. The Thanati rarely speak, but communicate with coughs, subtle movements, and by writing. They are able to hear, however, and those who wish to communicate with them learn to speak Quisey, as well as write it. A slang term for Quisey is "Deadish". Very few living people speak it or wish to communicate with the Thanati.
