Rachel Riley is a host on the long-running British television programme Countdown. This word based game show features two contestants pitted against one another to form the longest word possible. The letters are printed onto tiles which are selected blind by the contestants (making a choice between vowels and constants) and placed on to a board before the countdown timer begins. Rachel Riley is responsible for taking the letter tiles from their rack and placing them on the board. The game show also features a numbers round and Rachel Riley also selects the tiles for this round and often solves the puzzle if contestants cannot do so. This role was previously made famous by Carol Vorderman before Rachel Riley took on the role in 2009.
