ReferenceAnswers is the reference portion of Answers.com as the name implies. By reference it means sources, like dictionary and encyclopedia entries. ReferenceAnswers contains over 180 sources from such dictionaries as American Heritage Dictionaries and encyclopedias like Encyclopedia Britannica, Oxford University Press and the Thomson Gale collection.
In a nut shell, ReferenceAnswers is where you want to go for reliable trustworthy answers to word and encyclopedia type definitions.
ReferenceAnswers has not been a supported website in quite sometime. It was taken down.
The ReferenceAnswers logo was added when Answers.com and WikiAnswers combined into one website in early 2010. The ReferenceAnswers logo is to let you know that you're on a reference page, as opposed to being on a Q&A or WikiAnswers page. As you'll notice at the top of this page, it says Answers.com | WikiAnswers, just like Answers.com | ReferenceAnswers.
Answers.com is the parent company of WikiAnswers and ReferenceAnswers
That is the great thing about WikiAnswers: Its parent organisation is Answers.com, or ReferenceAnswers! If you would like to avoid being redirected to ReferenceAnswers, just click the "Community Q&A" button at the top-right of the Ask bar.
Answers.com | ReferenceAnswersImagine a Wikipedia page, but above the Wikipedia information, there is also the information provided by a professionally edited encyclopedia or dictionary or atlas, like Britannica or Columbia Encyclopedia. That's what Answers.com's ReferenceAnswers section offers. It has all of Wikipedia's entries, plus (when available) other sources on the same topic, on the same page.
Unfortunately, the Wikipedia articles that are on Answers.com (on the ReferenceAnswers side, not the WikiAnswers side) are exact copies of the Wikipedia articles, and they update almost as fast. It wouldn't do any good to edit it only on the ReferenceAnswers side, because any edit would only be copied over when we got the next update from Wikipedia.
WikiAnswers and WikipediaNo, WikiAnswers and Wikipedia are not owned by the same company. Answers.com|WikiAnswers and it's sister site, Answers.com|ReferenceAnswers are owned by Answers Corp. ReferenceAnswers is similar to Wikipedia, except that the content comes from many sources, including encyclopedias and Wikipedia, and the overall content is not user-generated.Wikipedia is owned by another company.
WikiAnswers and Wikipedia are two different companies. However, Wikipedia does have an agreement with Answers.com that allows them to use their content in the ReferenceAnswers area.
Currently, it's not an option on Answers.com (in WikiAnswers). You can attach photos in your profile page, though. There are photos available on ReferenceAnswers with many of the millions of topics.
