Yankee Doodle
Yankees ,patriots, traitors, rebels ,etc.
Yankee Doodle isn't a person. Yankee is what the American colonies were called. Doodle was another word for fool. If you think an American wrote Yankee Doodle, you're wrong. A British person who disliked Americans wrote it. The British sang it to insult the Americans, but the Americans thought it was so funny they made it they're song
If they honored her greatly, she favored them, if they offered insult they knew her wrath and death.
Really it depends on who you're talking too. Some people (especially younger people) will just laugh if they're called a yankee or a yank, really I don't think many people would be offended by it, but you never know so it might be best to not go around calling people yankee. If you ARE trying to insult somebody then this isn't the best term to use as it's only mildly offensive at worst, in this case you should go look up some better insults online, believe me there are tons.
During the Revolutionary War the British were trying to make fun of us, the Yankees, In the song referring to "macaroni" was the same as calling someone very fashionable. This is an insult because they were saying how stupid it is to put feathers in someones hat and saying that its good taste.
The term, "yank" is a slang term used to describe a person of American origin or heritage. "Yank" is derived from the slang term, "yankee" which is sometimes used as an insult.
