Turkey is a parliamentary democracy. There is a prime minister, a president, the parliament and the judiciary. The prime minister handles most day to day functions of the government. The presidency is mostly a symbolic role. However, the president can veto laws so it still has some power.

The current prime minister of Turkey is Tayyip Erdogan. The president is Abdullah Gul.
