Uxoricide is the term for killing ones own wife regardless of the circumstances. It is not necessarily a crime. If someone kills his wife in self-defense or defense of another than it is not murder but justifiable homicide. In some places in this world uxoricide is considered a legal act as the man has full "ownership" of the wife and can do with or to her what he likes. Also in Texas and maybe other states a man can legally kill his wife if he sees her having physical relations with another man.
