Yes! Maria von Braun. She was a lovely woman when I met her and her husband at operettas and operas held by The Civic Opera Society of Huntsville, Alabama. The von Brauns were fantastic supporters of this organization, and my Mama, Maria Theresia Brown, was Vice President-Treasurer during the mid to late 60’s. She got out and worked hard to help bring culture to Huntsville, by getting sponsors, ads, and keeping the finances of the society realistic and in check. These productions were held at Huntsville High School during that era, as The Wernher von Braun Civic Center didn’t exist yet. With her being from Vienna, Austria, she met most of the German segment (associates and their spouses involved with Wernher von Braun. Mama spoke six plus languages fluently, which always came in handy. She was congenial and had been a professional character actress, model, and jazz singer in Europe before she, my Daddy, and their son came to America in December of 1954. I would like to visit the graves of the von Brauns in the near future as they are just down the road near Washington, D.C.
