Unless there's a small C next to the date, it's only worth about $2.50 retail; a dealer will pay face value. 1953-C $2 bills are a bit more valuable, and can be worth roughly $3 to $6 depending on how worn they are.
1953, 1953A, 1953B, and 1953C red seal two dollar bills are all worth about $3.50 in circulated condition. Perfect examples are worth closer to $8.
This is not a rare note. In average circulated condition they are worth $2.25 to $5. In uncirculated condition they are worth around $12.
The value of a 1953 gold 2 dollar bill will vary. The value will be determined by the condition of the bill and by the current supply and demand for it.
