The speed of a USB 2.0 port varies, depending on the hardware being used. However, the top speed the 2.0 port can reach is 480 Mbit/s.
A better, faster version of a usb port.
USB port
You can use the FireWire port for high-speed multimedia devices.
The USB port is hardware.
A FD (flashdrive) is a portable data storage device that uses flash memory. A USB port is a port for a USB cable or anything that has USB capabilities, to plug into. For example, a FD normally plugs into a USB port.
For manufacturers, the cost to implement them on a motherboard is only a couple of cents. If you want to add a USB hub to your computer, they can usually be had for under $20.
Yes you can, but the USB 3.0 hub will only work at the speed of the USB 2.0 port.
The Generic USB Hub is a HI-SPEED USB device and will function at reduced speed when plugged into a non-HI-SPEED port
Super Speed USB is faster and is usually identified by a blue port or wire. Basically USB 2.0 is High Speed (480Mbps) and USB 3.0 Super Speed (5Gbps).
USB port
No. The root hub (the port on your computer) determines the maximum speed of all devices. If you plug a 2.0 hub into a 1.1 port, it will operate at 1.1 speeds. To gain a faster speed, you should install a USB 2.0 controller card.
Hint hint... high speed
USB 1.0 has the maximum speed of 1.5Mbps. USB 1.1 is a bit faster at 12Mbps. USB 2.0 is the fastest currently at 480Mbps. USB 3.0 will be released in 2010 and that will have a maximum speed of 4.8Gbit/s.
Think of it this way... Your USB drive is hi-speed. Your port isn't. So your USB cant use its hi-speed capabilities because the port is not hi-speed. If your question meant, how will this affect you? It won't affect you too much. It will simply just transfer data to and from the USB at a normal speed instead of a hi-speed.
High Speed usb is 2.0 now some comptuer have a 2.0 speed usb port some are slower. So if it says "You have plugged in a highspeed usb to a slower port" Or w/e then that means it will just be slower. Newer / Old but expensive comptuers have high speed USB ports. Hope this helped

A Hi-Speed USB port is 40 times faster than Original USB port running at 12 Mbps because 12 divided by 8 equals 1.5 which is how many Megabytes not Megabits that can be transferred with USB 1.1 since there are 8 bits in one byte.
40 times faster at maximum. 480 MB speed at 2.0.
