What is a GUI OS?
It stands for Graphical User Interface, its like windows or mac, where you move a mouse click on things and they interact with you.
the Apple Lisa OS was the first commercialy available OS with a GUI, closely followed by the original Mac OS.
Mac OS has a graphical user interface (GUI).
not realy as G.U.I is an OS used by windows
It was Xerox in 1970s with the Xerox Alto. The Alto actually had a GUI. Until Apple had created the Macintosh, there really was no GUI. In 1985, Microsoft created a crude GUI, Windows 1, which was only just an enhanced DOS Shell.
Visual basic is not a GUI operating system. In fact it is not even an OS. It is just a platform to develop GUI software for windows using BASIC-like programming syntax.
In GUI the os which are preloaded for the application either by point & draw device or URL path are reffered as GUI system.whereas kernel are primarly stored in the contacted area of memory & not accessible for user application.
The Graphical User Interface (GUI) was developed by Xerox at their Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). They used the GUI concepts in their Xerox 8010 Star Information System in 1981. The idea was developed further by Apple and used in their Lisa in 1983, then the Macintosh in 1984. So technically the Mac OS was not the first GUI but it was the first to be widely adopted by consumers.
Apple Macintosh was the first commercial GUI operating system. Soon after, Microsoft had claimed to make theirs, but underneath it all it was still running in a CLI interface, with some options still in command-line not GUI.
A GUI is a type of user interface that allows the user to interact with electronic devices using images rather than text commands. BTW, a GUI is not just an application it is also the OS you are using right now!
GUI (pronounced "gooey") = Graphical User Interface
GUI stands for "graphical user interface". An example of a GUI would be Windows XP/Vista, both are interactive and have icons, start menus, desktops, etc. A computer without a GUI will usually be text-based, meaning only text is shown on the screen and no icons or desktop. Note that a GUI is not linked to the computer itself and is usually linked the OS or a program.
Your OS is windows professional 2000 you got Trojan virus in your PC it has taken the GUI to hostage so the GUI looks as it should but no icon works how do you get rid of it?
I DONT KNOW BUT GOOD QUESTION PEOPLE
MS-DOS, or Microsoft DOS, would be the first computer (or operating system) to use a Graphical User Interface. If you consider a command prompt OS as a GUI, then whatever computer first used the display would be the first GUI computer.
If you are referring to using the desktop interface it was the very first mac OS that offered the GUI interface.
Basically, they both have a Graphic User Interface (GUI).
CLI is Command Line Interface GUI is Graphical User Interface CLI - You type commands into a prompt and the computer executes them. GUI - You use a graphical interface and make selections with the mouse and the computer executes them. CLI example: MS-DOS GUI example: MS Windows XP
The interface is collectively known as "Aqua." The widget toolkit that makes up the interface is known as "Cocoa."
In most operating systems, and particularly in all flavors of Microsoft Windows and Mac OS, yes.
What is the difference between an operating system with a text-based user interface and GUI-based operating system?
A Text Based OS is a OS like MSdos just plain old text and commands But Now Newer Operating Systems Came Out. A GUI OS is like mac, Windows 7, But Boots With a little help from MSdos. You can still download linux text based OSs But It is mosty meant for servers.
Not sure exactly what you mean. If you mean was OS 9 command-line based, like DOS, the answer is no. OS 9 is a full-GUI OS, just like OS X is. While OS X does have a terminal window so you can access the underlying Unix-based infrastructure, OS 9 had none (and no infrastructure to access via command-line).

That would be a GUI....Graphical User Interface. The first was used by Steve Jobs on the Mac about 1972 and borrowed by Bill Gates to use on his first Windows OS a few years later. A WYSIWYG. is "What You See Is What You Get" that is what evolved from a GUI.
-Darwin = Microsoft DOS -Classic = Microsoft Win 3.1 family -Aqua = Microsoft Win GUI
Menu-Driven Command-Driven Icon-Driven ( GUI )
Several different versions of UNIX have GUI's or Graphical User Interfaces. The most common example of UNIX with an interface is Mac OS X.
Mac OSX is the operation system of a mac. it is necessary because the OS is the GUI (graphic user interface) which makes all the programs run in individual windows and the Dock and all that good stuff. also, all the programs run within the OS so without the OS there is pretty much nothing the computer can do except start up and go DONNNNNGGGG.
'le gui' is 'mistletoe' in English
The OS was completely revised to eliminate all DOS command structure.
Swing is a library of GUI controls. Classes in swing are not OS dependent. They don't create peer components, so they are light weight unlike AWT.
Swing is a library of GUI controls. Classes in swing are not OS dependent. They do not take the look and feel of the target platform so that they have a consistent appearance.

Do you need a monitor for running GUI? Do you need a monitor for running GUI?
Ubuntu has a GUI by default.
Do you mean Mac OSX? or OS "ten" ? That's the latest MacOS. It's a BSD derivative with the coolest GUI that is fairly bug free. It works with many applications and contains much of what you need right out of the box. There's not much you can't do with a Mac ;-)

There are several ways to make a GUI. However, I'm not going to write an answer that would outline an entire GUI, as that would require many lines of code, and might be completely useless for the reader, as C is a universal language, but creating a GUI is almost always platform dependent, so one answer might not be the right answer for all possible scenarios. In the dark days of computer programming, GUIs were… Read More

He used to like Gui Gui when they were in the same drama. But I don't think he likes her now because they're not planning anymore drama now. Also they're not allow to date because of their contract. That's why Gui Gui left Hey Girl.
Both are same as DOS is also an OS.. But Dos is Character User Interface(CUI) But latest Operating systems are Graphical User Interface(GUI) ex: Windows xp, Windows 7, Windows Vista Etc.,
About this, i think Gui Gui also like Wang zi, and i think Wang zi also like Gui Gui. But they can't be together cuz they are so young and they get scared about their fan. If you are asking about the original Macintosh, the purpose was to provide a personal computer with system software that was removed from the user. In other words, to provide a user with a graphical user interface (GUI) based OS in which the user did not realize the OS was there performing background functions. This was much different from the other options at the time that were similar to MS-DOS and were a more arcane… Read More
the difference between the gui & console are ,in the gui we can use the mouse pointer and console screen only we have to used the character. from anknush
Not much similarity, however from GUI you can do anything which can be done by CLI.. This is not possible with CLI to do as GUI..
Mac OS X. Why? First off, we have to consider our options. The major players are: Windows, Mac OS, and Linux/Unix Mac OS is the best because: - Support for automation (Automator/AppleScript) which is essential - Better hardware all-around - Nice functional GUI (comparable to Windows) - Ability to run all major OS via virtualization - UNIX root - Tools support is not bad (Xcode) In essence, Mac OS is like Windows + Linux/Unix.
