Hard to explain but heres an example of one: 192.168.65.12
It is the same one as your wireless network except the last number will be added up one. Lets say you have 191 at the end on your laptop then on the ps3 it will be 192
you need to set up your wireless router with your internet connection to your computer, and then search for an access point on the ps3 under internet setting, under set up connection, then just follow the instructions from there
First you need a wireless internet connection before you can connect the PS3 to wireless internet. You can not connect the PlayStation without already having internet service. If you have wireless internet service then you go to the PlayStation 3 settings to network connections. If you do not have a wireless internet, but have internet service you purchase a wireless Router and install it first before going to the PS3 setting for network connection. You can also connect a wired system running an ethernet cable from your router to the back of the PS3 and then going to the setting for network connection.
The PS3 allows you to connect to an existing wireless connection
You can use a wireless connection if you have a wireless router
I found I preferred a wired connection, but others may have had different results. I did have a good connection, but I wanted a perfect connection and the best connection. The PS3 connection test showed better results for the wired connection compared to the wireless for the internet connection. For the Bluetooth wireless connection of the controllers and other accessories the PS3 is excellent
No the first part of the connection process on the PS3 searches for an ethernet connection, once it does not find one it then searches for a wireless connection
All PS3 but the first 20 GB model are wireless. That means if you already have a wireless internet connection they can connect to it.
If you go to setting, scroll ALL the way down to network settings there should be Internet connection set this to wireless and it should scan for a wireless connection then you must enter your password etc...
The ethernet cable should come from a modem or router. The plug for you PC is likely the one that would go to the router or modem from your PC. Just as the PS3 has the ability to be either Wired or WiFi so do some computers and that is why they have a spot for an ethernet cable. The PS3 has Network setting that can be switched to allow you to have a wireless connection or a wired connection, but not to have both. The wired connection provides the best connection for the PS3 because the connection can not be lost as with a WiFi connection. You will also find when running the connection test for the PS3 better speeds for the wired connection.
Only for the PS3
no you need an internet connection with WiFi
Buy a wireless router and hook it to your cable modem. PS3 does not provide broadband you must purchase it
