The tall hat used by pipers is known as a bearskin...simply because they are made from bears fur. Most in use today are imported from Canada, but as I write that is under threat, as some lobbyists purport that killing bears for fur alone is cruel. I can understand that aspect fully. It is suggested fake fur will be used in the near future
