A tree....the air instead of soil...the roots are the nose, mouth and throat and glottis...the trunk and branches are the bronchi and bronchioles.....the alveoli are the leaves,,,the bloodstream is the air exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide.
For a real life situation, i would think telegraphs would work well.
1. Telegraphs send and receive data over long distances, (hence the human body.)
2. The messages from the telegraph stations would spread to the townspeople.

cells(are like individual alphabets) which come together to form tissues(words). tissues forms organs(sentences). And organs form organ-system(paragraphs). Organ-systems come together to form an organism(text/essay). Note: This is an analogy just to explain the hierchy of the units of life.
