The easy way of explaining it is "racism against Jewish people".
There no record of antisemtism on Hitler's part till the end of World War 1, when he was 29.
before the Holocaust Nazi ideas were not very different than those in many other countries. Jews could not (for example) escape to America as they were not wanted there either._____Almost nothing was new, except that there was a political party in power that had racial antisemtism as a core feature of it ideology.Important continuities include:Demonization of the Jews. The belief that Jews were conspirators. The Nazis' racist views were actually very contradictory. On the one hand, they said that the Jews were subhuman, but on the other hand, they portrayed them as well organized, diabolically cunning and as a real threat to Germany.
The invention of the word antisemtism (Germnan: Antisemitismus) is attributed to Wilhelm Marr (1819-1904). He was a German antisemite, who founded his own anti-Jewish party in 1879. He was fed up with being called a Jew-baiter (German: Judenhetzer). He also wanted to make it clear that his hatred of the Jews was racial, not just religious and claimed that he, too, had an -ism or ideology to solve all the world's problems. (The word Antisemit (German for antisemite) is first appeared in print slightly earlier, in 1865. The word is odd as it suggests that there is such a thing as "*semitism" that antisemites are opposed to. Like many in the 19th century, Marr named ethnic groups after languages families. However, there are no instances on record of antisemitism being used to describe hatred of others who speak a Semitic language.
At the time there was no right to asylum in the modern sense, and refugees had to enter the U.S. (and most other countries) as ordinary immigrants under the usual immigration procedures. Since the early 1920s immigration to the U.S. had been strictly controlled with quotas for the number of people to be admitted from each country, and these quotas (or maxima) were rigidly enforced. Anyone wishing to migrate to the U.S. had to have prior permission, within the quota, to enter the country. The passengers on the St Louis did not meet these requirements. They had originally expected to land in Cuba. There were some attempts to get extra quotas for refugees from Germany, but these attempts got nowhere. It is generally held that antisemtism was a significant factor, in the background, anyway.
The Holocaust occurred during this period in history. German Jews led restrictive lives, where they had to wear a yellow star of David to identify themselves. In Germany and many other European countries, the Jews were taken to concentration camps and many died there.
Sometimes, even if it is a very few times, we cannot handle the truth, we cannot stand before it. Then, as a final way of defense to our fragility, we turn to deny it. This is not a justification for such behavior, it is only the acknowledgement of human being limitation.CommentWith respect, the above comment is wrong. There's a huge difference between being unable to take the horrors of the Holocaust and denying them.Holocaust denial has nothing whatever to do with inablity to 'handle the truth'. The obvious and best strategy for people who can't bear to hear or read about the horrors of the Holocaust is to keep well away from the subject, not to deny it.Holocaust deniers, by contrast, obsessively pick over the evidence in their attempts to find flaws, minor inconsistencies and so on. They claim that the Holocaust is a lie, a hoax, a sob-story, deliberately invented by 'the Jews' for their own advantage. That is simply Jew-baiting and usually also an attempt to rehabilitate the perpetrators. In other words, the key motive is antisemtism.(In the Middle East, Holocaust denial has become fashionable because there is a widespread belief that the key or even sole reason for the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 was a sense of guilt on the part of the Allies and other key members of the United Nations at the time. During World War 2, the Allies had done nothing specifically to target Nazi genocide).
Okay, discard most of these replies. The first was okay, the last was absolutely horrible. Kabbalah in Hebrew means the "received tradItion". Now, EVERYONE must know and understand that EVERY religion on earth has an ESOTERIC AND EXOTERIC TRADITION. An oral and a written. And this certainly applies with Judaism. Prior to the 16th century, kabbalah was kept secret among the elite sages of Judaism. It ALWAYS been apart of Judaism. The oral Torah is likened to the "soul" and the "body" is the Torah. In deeper terms, the "binah" understanding of the spiritual spheres became comprehensible to man with the production of the Zohar by Rabbi Shimon Ben Yochai in the 1st century CE. Prior to that period, beyond the levels of the basic ten spheres no one knew. However, the mystical basis has always existed. Moses transmitted both the oral and the written. The "oral" refers to the mystical, which of course refers to consciousness. Now, another very important, nay CRUCIAL piece of information into understanding this is that the "elites" of society, those who call themselves christians, Muslims etc, our supposed "leaders" are nothing more than pagans. They've always controlled society and their worship is merely to the 72 powers beneath the shechina(presence of god). In other words, theyre satanists. They have always held a vociforous campaign against the Jews. Spreading antisemtism, lies etc. Its a cosmic battle that's about to reach its frutition in the next hundred years. As for the dimwitted reply above. If "mysticism", ie; the knowledge of the spiritual worlds is evil, why would it even exist? Surely, if such knowledge existed, G-d wants us to understand such knowledge. In no way do kabbalists deviate from the Torah or the 613 commandments. Orthodox Jews everywhere study Kabbalah. If you want to understand the rationale behind all alot of tehse things its indispenible. Chassidut(which was a further development of kabbalah) is an absolutely beautiful tradition that will precurse the teachings hat the messiah will reveal. I can assure you. Kabbalah is 100% true. Only an ignoramus such as that who posted above would make such an audacious claim. One of the great ways to fully grasp this is to study some of the basic texts. Zohar, Sefer Yetzirah by aryeh kaplan, Bahir, and their are a great many resources online for authentic Orthodox kabbalah. Inner.org, Azamra, simpletoremember Qabalah with a "q" is a hermetic hybrid. THIS deals with practical kabbalah. Jews only study "theosophical" kabbalah, meaning its only the knowledge of the spiritual worlds that one should seek, which enahances ones relationship with G-d. to acheieve higher states of awareness of G-d, its integral. If you choose to be bothered by fear mongering and stupidity, its your loss. Theres no contacting Angels/Demons, all of that belongs to the pagans and Qabalah, who already worship and adorn these intelligences. Jews study kabbalah only to amplify the awareness of the one G-d. Whether you like it or not, the world we see has an underlying order behind it, and only kabbalah can teach you that. Good luck!
