You can do a lot of things. I have a bachelor's degree in English, and I have used it to get Technical Writing and Editing jobs on numerous occasions. I have also done freelance writing. Other people with English degrees have gone on to Law School or other graduate programs in many things such as Literature, Linguistics, English Teaching, etc. They have written plays, novels, movie scripts, video game storylines, and poetry. The possibilities are many... and not all good. :) Some people with English degrees don't use them at all. Just like any other degree, what you do with it is up to you. What I like about my English degree is that in studying literature you basically get to study everything... people write about *everything,* and so everything is fair game. :) It was also great to study the different theories about literature and learn to see the same text from many different perspectives. I think it taught me a lot about thinking... which is something that everyone can use in "real" life. :)
