A bass C is the note one octave below middle C.
Soprano is middle c to g, alto is treble clef under the staff g to d, tenor is c to high g ( bass clef) and bass which is bass clef f to c
I always play an A-chord, with a C in the bass. I should note an A-chord with a bass-C sounds rather dissonant. An A-minor/C or a A/C# would be more logical.
