The celebration of birthdays is a pagan custom. There are only two birthdays mentioned as celebrated in the Bible, and Gentiles observed them.
One was observed by Pharaoh in Joseph's day, and the other is Herod's birthday in Jesus day. In both cases, someone died... Pharaoh's baker and John the Baptist.
Strangely as it sounds... God's view on things differs greatly from man's.

Why don't jehovas celebrate birthdays?
We Jehovah's Witnesses believe the bible is inspired from god from beginning to end and we adhere to the bible as the standard for all our beliefs. In the bible only two birthdays are spoken of in which both someone was killed. So why would Jehovah God have put these two birthdays in which deaths occurred in the bible if he wanted us to celebrate birthdays.
