Any firearm imported into the US had to be marked by the importer by BATFE regulations. Some companies make these markings discrete, especially on Curio & Relic type rifles. Others - such as CAI - use very large, prominent markings, which are visibly seen on places such as the receiver, and these are referred to as "billboards".

This refers to the Enfield rifle, which was made in several versions. The first ones were made for WW1. I think the Mark 3 was the first one made for WW2.
