"Binding" in the Wheel of Time series is a process that compels individuals to behave in a certain way. Binding is usually carried out through an item of the One Power, such as the Aes Sedai's Oath Road. In the current timeline of the series, Aes Sedai voluntary bind themselves by taking the Three Oaths (no lying, no making weapons, no channeling unless for self-defense). In another time, binding was used on criminals to prevent them from committing another crime.
