Many of the psalms are hymns of praise, that's true, but many are not. Some are please for help and others are songs of repentance, for instance. Therefore, to call the book of psalms the 'book of praise' would only be partly correct.
The book of Psalms is said to be a book of songs. In the King James Version there are symbols indicating stop and start point for choirs or choir masters.

Psalms has many songs of praise. Chapter 117 (two verses long), for example, is a song of praise.
There are numerous praise and worship songs in the United States which is a very religious country. Some of these songs include 'We are God's People', 'Shout to the Lord', 'Glorify' and 'Cleanse Me'.
I would guess and say Song of Solomon, it is one big song. The book of Psalms is mainly a praise to the Lord by King David which is also songs.
