A breeding net is a small mesh enclosure that you can put into your main tank to separate off one or more fish. You can find them online at www.bigalsonline.com
Net Pet
The same amount of fish will be produced in a net as in a breeding trap. The amount of fish you save though could be different. That depends upon you and how much you know about rearing baby tropical fish.
What will happen is your fry, when it is born, will swim up to the surface for that first bit of air and then they will swim somewhere that they feel safe. They will swim through to the bottom part of the breeding net and they will come up for air if they need it. It is a good idea also to remove the mother from the breeding net as soon as you are sure that she has finished giving birth. This is to ensure the mother doesn't eat the babies.
You should put them in for about 1 or 2 hours.

Simple answer; yes. After giving birth the male &/or female will their fry. You should keep fry in a breeding net after birth. And keep female in another breeding net or aquarium after giving birth, this is so that she can recover fully before being mixed with male again. P.S. Stress from giving birth & male guppy chasing after her can cause female to die.
You can do one of three things. 1. Leave the pregnant fish alone in the main tank and just let the pregnancy happen. They baby fish will probably find hiding places themselves. 2. Get a breeding tank. Leave the pregnant fish in the main tank and then when you see a fry, net it, and put it in the breeding tank. 3. Get a breeding tank and put the pregnant fish in it and just leave it. Whenever the pregnancy is over, put the pregnant fish in the main tank but leave the fry in breeding tank.

yes, platys eat baby fry however, if you buy a special breeding net or a breeding tank, they will survive. also, if you have many plants to protect the fry, some should make it. But be sure to separate the fry from the parents.
