They are the traditional mount of the gardians-the Camargue "cowboys" who herd the black Camargue bulls used in bullfighting in southern France. Nowadays, their calm temperament, agility, intelligence and stamina has resulted in these horses being used for equestrian games, dressage, and long distance riding, which is growing in popularity in France.

Camargue horses eat the same as normal horses!

Horses eat hay, and grains (Oats, maize, barley), Sugar Beet and many types of grass, such as alfalfa, just to name the most common feeds. They love all fruit and vegetables especially: carrots, watermelon, swedes, bananas and apples. Most horses also have a taste for human food, like bread, ice cream, polos, chocolate ECT. The feed for horses will vary depending on their age and medical condition.
