you have to remove the tank completely, start by taking out the back seat there will be two pull tabs on both sides under the front of the seat, remove the fuel pump cover and disconect electrical and fuel line connections. then proceed to jack up the rear of the car, use one jack stand per side on the rear of the car. then place a jack with a board on the cup portion under the tank and remove the straps holding the tank to the car. once straps are removed lower the jack and slide the tank out of the car. I would then recommend using a pump (manual or motorized) to remove the gas out into a sealed container.
