What properties of substances can you observe and how do these properties determine the usefulness or hazards of a substance?

You can observe physical, chemical, and characteristic properties of a substance and can be used to determine the usefulness of a substance by, giving us information about the substance usually using our 5 senses which are physical properties. Or being able to describe the substances ability to undergo changes to its composition to produce one or more new substances, chemical property. Or even just being able to identify whether or not the substance is pure or not can help us determine if the substance is hazardous or not. two other properties I did not mention were the qualitative and the quantitative properties.

How are physical and chemical properties of matter useful?

Physical and chemical properties of matter are useful because they can help you identify that substance. For example paper burns very easily and aluminum doesn't, this is how they can be described individually.

What does not change when a substance changes matter?

During a physical change, the matter of what the substance is made out of doesn't change.

Properties that depend on the substances reaction with other substances?

Chemical properties are properties that depend on the substances reactions with other substances. Physical properties can be observed without changing the composition of the matter.

In a physical change some of the physical properties of the substance may be altered and the chemical composition?

No. In a physical change, the substance maintains its chemical composition.

Why is it important to identify substances by their physical and chemical properties?

These properties are specific for each substance.

What is the difference between physical properties and chemical properties?

Physical properties of matter are those that can be seen or measured without changing the substance into something else. Chemical properties tell how the substance forms new substances when it reacts with something else.

Does a change in substances and properties go with physical change?

no, if it's a substance change then it's a chemical change. If it were a physical change then it would be the same substance

Is carbon dioxide raw material?

No, it is a pure substance. A "pure substance" does not mean an element. Rather, it means that the given substance has definite physical and chemical properties. "Pure substances" can be either "Elements" or "Compounds" because all substances belonging to these categories have definite physical and chemical properties.A mixture does not have definite physical and chemical properties, and combine in varying proportions.
