Best Answer

Chemical bonds are formed by sharing of electrons between two atoms. Atoms tend to achieve electronic configuration of their respective inert gases i.e. in the outer shell they need to have 8 electrons. e.g. Sodium has 1 electron in the outer shell by donating it it is left with electronic configuration of 2, 8. and Chlorine which has 7 electrons in its outer shell receives 1 electron and gets electronic configuration 2,8,8. Between Sodium and Chlorine ionic bond is formed and NaCl is produced. Chemical bonds are formed by sharing of electrons between two atoms.
