A range of very high mountains.
When subduction occurs at points of plates collision.
A range of very high mountains.
Well if you take into acount that metamorphic rock is formed by applying heat and pressure to sedimentary rock the answer becomes quite clear; the pressure is created by the tectonic plates colliding and the heat source is from the molten rock that is pushed close to the surface due to the collision. :)
Convergent plate margins are characterized as collision zones between plates and may involve continental to continental crust, continental to oceanic crust, or oceanic to oceanic crust. Those that involve oceanic crust result in subduction of the more dense plate into the Earth's mantle. Continental to continental plate collisions result in uplift of the surface features and mountain building and the margin may eventually become welded together.
Metamorphism of existing rock through collisions of continental plates occurs from directional pressures along with heat from friction and depth of burial. The pressure and heat can cause recrystallization of existing minerals, new mineral crystal formation, and mineral realignment in the metamorphosed rock.
Some examples of mountain ranges created by continental-continental convergence are the Himalayas (resulting from the collision of the Indian and Eurasian plates) and the Alps (formed by the collision of African and Eurasian plates).
its funny because im looking for that answer too ._.
That is one method of mountain formation, yes.
Mountains are the result of the collision of tectonic plates.
The collision of contiental plate places rocks under enormous pressure, greater than can be produced from burial alone. This extreme pressure leads to high grades of metamorphism.
mountain formation
According to the modern theory of plate tectonics, its formation is a result of a continental collision along the convergent boundary between the Indo-Australian Plate and the Eurasian Plate.
These are the result of the collision between the North American, Pacific and Cocos plates.

divergence of continental crust create rift zones e.g.east african rift valley.firstly, divergence will create updoming of the area.after that step faulting will take place and that will result in narrow linear sea formation like red sea.finally separation of land and ocean ridge will occur.
