Sure, someone might get some software, movies, and music for "free," but computer piracy harms computer-related industries and forces those who do pay for their content to pay more. I can't think of any "advantages" to other online crimes like child pornography and fraud, among others. Computer laws have their advantages in that they protect content providers from piracy, help keep child porn off of computers, and fight fraud. But often the disadvantages are the that laws make it harder for ISPs to do their jobs, restricts the rights of honest people, and raises the costs of doing business online.
