There are lots of brands of hermit crab food. I prefer the flake type by HBH. But there are also pellet-types,

and wet-types (like the consistency of dog food)

There are many more types of hermit crab food, but those are the three main kinds of food you'll find in most pet stores.

There are lots of great, different brands out there.

Always check the labels on the food. Look at the ingredients. You want to look for all natural things such as shrimp meal, oats, coconut, wheat, and vegetables. I feed my crabs HBH variety bits (flake food) which has all that good stuff in it that I just listed. HBH was awarded a natural bio-logic seal for all the good stuff in the crab food.

But you can feed your crabs whatever you like and feel that they would be best eating.

Hermit crabs also like regular foods you can find at the grocery store, such as:

  • Apples & applesauce

  • Carrots

  • Spinach

  • Lettuce & watercress (no iceberg lettuce)

  • Grapes

  • Blueberries

  • Strawberries

  • Bananas

  • Brine shrimp

  • Peanut butter

  • Unsalted crackers

  • Unsalted non-buttered popcorn (as in: absolutely plain popcorn)
