Death Knights are the first so-called Hero class in World of Warcraft. They are called a Hero class because they start at a higher level (55) than all the other classes. Another perk is after completing their starting quests (which is in a phased area, separate from the rest of Azeroth), they have Epic Mount Training (free) and are in all rare type armor. The armor is good enough to last a Death Knight up until he/she gets to Northrend content if the player chooses.
Death Knight have their own unique "power system". It is in two parts, Runic Power and Runes. Runes are divided into 3 types, Blood, Frost, Unholy. You gain Runic Power by using abilities that cost Runes. Although alot of their abilities do magical damage (mainly frost and shadow damage) they do not stack spellpower or anyother caster stat. Strength increases their attack power.
