A:Scholars say that all modern religions evolved, through many phases, from primitive animism. Even the pagan religion of Rome still had elements of animism. Tibetan Buddhism and Japanese Shintoism are said to contain identifiable elements of animism.
In itself animism doesn't worship anything, it is merely a belief that everything has a spirit or soul, but animism exists in other religions such as Hinduism, Shinto and other pagan religions which normally have Gods who are worshipped.
Animism does not have a specific holy book. Beliefs and practices in animism vary widely among different cultures and regions, with emphasis placed on the spiritual significance of nature, ancestors, and spirits.
