A router is a device which can connect 2 or more computers via a network. The connection can either be wireless or wired. Most home networks have 1 router which has 4 or 8 ports to plug in Cat5 (network) cable. Businesses may have 6 or more router/switches having 10 or more ports for cables and have multiple domains and workgroups.
