Natural selection - is allowing the species to breed at their own convenience - with whichever member of the opposite sex they choose. Artificial selection is human intervention in that natural process - allowing breeders to choose the best genes for the species.

There is no "end game" in natural selection; this is because circumstances change over time and what might be best for one generation might not be so great for another generation. Also, natural selection is usually referred to in terms of "deep time" or hundred of thousand of years. So in comparison artificial selection is looking for immediate results and is directed not by nature, but by human looking for specific traits.

What is the main difference between natural selection and genetic drift?

The main difference to remember is that natural selection is a nonrandom process while genetic drift is a random process.

What is the difference between sexual and natural selection?

Natural selection is survival of the fittest, while sexual selection is a preference for a given trait made by the limiting sex. It is strangely, but usually in opposition to natural selection (E.G., male peacock's tail feathers that garner attention from predators and prevent the peacock from fleeing well).

What is the difference between artificial selection and natural selections?

natural selection occurs due to natural phenomena (e.g. changes in diet or predators).artificial selection occurs due to human generated phenomena (e.g. breeding or domestication).

How are natural and artifical selection different?

Natural selection is the process of selection imposed by pressures from the environment. It has no conscious guidance or purpose, but simply selects for a population best suited to survive in the current environment.Artificial selection is the process of selection consciously imposed by humans selecting which individuals breed. This can be considered a subset of natural selection, if one considers humans as just another part of the environment other creatures must live in.

Is there a difference between a tan acquired with a tanning bed and a tan acquired in the sun?

There is a difference in the tonal quality of artifical-light tans. Tans resulting from natural sunlight tend to be more golden, whereas tans from artificial light do have an orange cast.

What is the relationship between adaptation and natural section?

Here is a quote: "The relationship between adaptation and natural selection does not go both ways. Whereas greater relative adaptation leads to natural selection, natural selection does not necessarily lead to greater adaptation." I do not recall who said it, but this is what the relationship between both is. Here is a quote: "The relationship between adaptation and natural selection does not go both ways. Explain the difference between artificial and natural selection?

Artificial selection is anthropogenic -- humans interfere with nature to determine what traits get passed on, whereas natural selection is when through sexual reproduction the traits passed on are determined by survival of the fittest.

Why do populations of asexually reproduced organisms show little variation?

There is no natural selection and therefore no evolutionary need for a difference between genders.

Are either Exuiviance's or Dermalogica's mask all-natural?

Dermalogica's masques all state no artifical fragrance or artifical color but they do not state they are all natural. Exuiviance's masques list all of the ingredients but do not say all natural.

Is artificial selection and natural selection the same at the molecular level?

Technically, yes, but only because they are using virtually the same processes, the only real difference between the two, is like the difference between choosing your own mate and having someone choose your mate for you.
