There are many noteworthy sites in Colorado however Pikes Peak is a feature that is readily identified and associated with the State. It is tiny when compared with the other 52 mountains that are over 14,000 feet in elevation but since it seems so massive when first seen after crossing the plains of Kansas on the journey West it has taken a symbolic role in representing the lore of the Rocky Mountains.
