∙ 14y agoThe formula bar is located above the cells C and D and in between the Cell and the Data bar on the Excel speadsheet. It will have a X a check and a Fx. That is the formula bar. It will display the contents of cells or allow you to type formulas.

This can help you to see how the data in the cell has been arrived at, by seeing the formula that is in the cell. The Insert Function button is on the Formula Bar, enabling you to enter functions. The Name Box is also on the formula bar, showing the address of the active cell or named cell range. As what is in cells is important and the importance of formulas for Excel, the Formula Bar is very important for Excel.

∙ 10y agoThe Formula Bar is found in Excel, not Word. There is a formula dialog box which enables you to do simple formulas in tables in Word, but no actual formula bar. See the related question below.
