A gas powered airsoft gun is a type of gun run of compressed gasses as opposed to a spring or gearbox. Gas guns often have magazines with gas reservoirs in them that require filling with gas (and bbs) before firing. The way most gas guns work is that when you pull the trigger you release a hammer that strikes a valve that momentarily releases some of the gas in the reservoir, propelling a single bb forward (or in the case a shotgun or grenade launcher 3 to 180+ bbs).
