The simplest form of control of an electric motor is a switch. In most applications a motor may be allowed to run continuously for lengthy periods, for example, in a fan. However, if a motor is being used to power a crane or to lift a large door it must be made to shut off when the object it is moving reaches a limiting point, whether or not a human operator notices that the limit has been reached. Shutting off an electric motor under this type of condition is the function of a limit switch.
In many cases the object being moved makes more or less direct contact with the switch or it does so via some form of lever. However, there are cases where the object might be moving either too fast or too slow to properly operate a switch. In these cases a geared limit switch will be used. The gears in the switch transform the movement of the object being moved to match the needs of the switch. I have mentioned speed of movement. There are other possibilities too. It might be necessary to convert rotational movement to up-and-down movement to control the switch, or various other kinds of movement. Clearly the exact nature of the gears inside the limit switch will vary depending on the transformation required.
rectifier diodes handle larger amounts of power. A switching diode handles much less amperage but at a quicker rate. There are switching diodes that can switch power on and off in several nano-seconds.

The temperature adjustment on a single handle Delta faucet is in the valve operation itself, however, the high temperature limit is adjustable, and is probably what you are referring to. To adjust it, you have to remove the handle from the trim. Beneath the handle are two geared rings which control the high temperature limit. Remove the inner ring (they may both fall out) and turn it CCW (if memory serves..) to raise the high limit. If I got it backwards, turn the ring CW and try again.
Check for the mechanical. On the wiring site, it has different cables for up and for down, but same hardware (just switch the phase, then motor got different rotation). So if mechanical is okay, check the cables wiring

Those two are not geared to production. The engine exploded because the transmission was not geared properly.
