A gifted class is a class or classes of students who have shown above average talents or gifts in one or more academic areas. The students are given work and projects to enhance their learning and to engage them. Years ago the first gifted students were often placed in classes on an college campuses, and the classes were very small. Because the students were removed from people their own age the gifted student often had problems relating to peers, so to solve this gifted classes were started in schools where the students would normally attend. Today, gifted students may be on campus or located in a magnet school that offers special programs in the arts or technology.

How many gifted tests do you do to be in the gifted class?

I was classified as gifted at a young age. There are two tests, but the first is not an actual test. It was the fact you had to be recognized by a teacher, apply for the program, or pass the end of the year test and get classified as gifted. Then, you are automatically in the gifted class if you want to be, but only if you get recognized or pass the end of the year test as gifted. Then, comes the gifted test if you are not in the above. You can take the test according to grade level, and if you pass then you would be classified as gifted. You can leave the regular education classroom to go into the gifted classroom. (If you think it would be better if you skipped a grade, then you can consult the homeroom teacher and discuss the matter.) Here's a tip: Pressure in the gifted classrooms increases, so if you can not handle pressure and lots of work, I suggest staying in the regular education class, or consult the teacher about skipping if you think that would be better. Meeting the needs of a student active in the classroom is very important, so if you are a parent thinking about moving your child to a gifted classroom, I suggest you talk to the child about it. Remember, education is very important. Choosing the right classroom is very important, so going to open houses and parent teacher conferences is very necessary in the first years of being gifted. If your child's teacher thinks the child may not be ready, or is not keeping up with the work, a regular ed. class would be great. If the child has already made a friend or two, then a regular ed. classroom in that school would be a dream come true. Good luck, and I hope you have a great time doing whatever you choose.

Do we have to say gifted for or gifted at?

As in being innately skilled at something? Gifted at. "Justine is gifted at languages, but not sports." Conversely, though, you would say that someone has a gift for something. "Lucas has a gift for public speaking." If you can, try to use the word without 'for' or 'at'. She is a gifted athlete, or he is a gifted speaker. Sometimes, 'gifted in' sounds best.

What is the difference between being bright and gifted?

Being gifted, is being recognized by the school that you have a IQ of higher than 130 at least. In Canada, you get an IEP which is an Individual Education Plan. you can also choose to go to a special gifted class with people who are also gifted to get a full grasp of your abilities. A way i like to think of it is that if your gifted, it doesn't mean your more likely to succeed, it just means you think in a different way. Brihgt is just being good at something. it doesn't mean you have passed a contry reconized test and passed with flying colors. It doesn't mean being bright is not as good as being gifted. I know pleanty of people who are awesome at what they do and a re not gifted. It is basicly a status granted to you iff you take an IQ test and get 130 or above.
