The ones that I started with, and the best ones to me so far, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, and Final Fantasy XII. But the thing about the games is that the battle style is different. FF VII has a team vs. team time based battle system. FF X has a team vs. team turn based battle system. FF XII has a free roaming battle system that is also time based. They all have amazing stories, though. (from Your_Darkest_angel) Final Fantasy IX is the most simple game. FFX would also be a good starter game. they are more straight foward. FFIX
Maybe start with Final Fantasy 1,2,3,4,5, or 6. Those are the classics, and some of the best. But I would suggest that you start out with Final Fantasy 9! Final Fantasy 9 is a 4 disc adventure that will take you at least 45 hours, it is pretty much all the classic Final Fantasies put together into one bad-ass adventure, it has a classic feel to it, with some added things for the best, and the visuals have a charm to them as well. SO FINAL FANTASY ALL THE WAY.
It's for the ps1, and you can play it on the ps2 and the ps3 as well. Also you can get it from the play station store available for the psp 1000, 2000, and the psp 3000, and the psp go, as well as the ps3. It's average cost for the ps1 version is 20 dollars on eBay and amazon, and some classic gaming stores like the Exchange. And the cost for Final Fantasy 9 on the PS STORE is 10 bucks. To get it on the PS STORE, you will need around 2 gigs of memory.
Turn the game on...and select new game.
