ManyAhoy this is stonemkr, I do reverse painting on glass and my technique was a gift from a higher source! Your technique of painting will come from within all you do is pick a medium that works for you and let your hands and mind do the rest. After practice your technique will develope natural or maybe you to will get the gift or find the one you already have. Any technique of painting is a good thing. I know there is the broken colour technique but I'm not sure what else. I don't agree with the other person, there are only certain techniques, but many STYLES of painting.

Technique is related more to the artist than the medium. Each artist has their own technique, some good examples are Jackson Pollock and his drip paintings, Georges Serat and his pointillism, or optical color mixing technique. Often in art the words style and technique can be interchanged, as in 'a painting done in the style of Pollock'. The technique, in this example, could be the same or quite different from that of Pollock.
Yes, Lighten Up is a very popular book. It could be a good book for your book club if you are all trying to loose weight.
I would look on Amazon for a great selection. I would recommend Oil Painter's Solution Book by Elizabeth Tolley.
A piece that improves your piano (finger) technique. Things like smooth scales and runs, good articulation and good strength (and articulation) are included in a book called "Hanon: The Virtuoso Pianist." But any book that includes any of those things are considered a piano technique book...and by practicing a few every day, you're supposed to get some good results.
That's a matter of personal opinion. It was certainly a popular book for its genre when it first came out.
Bad technique in sports, are all techniques that are not performed naturally, and that does not give a good result when performed. Good technique is any technique that is natural in it's execution, and gives good results.
