If you painted laminated presswood I will assume you applied primer first. Otherwise everything you do to that surface after you painted it, is a waste of time. Latex and laminate do not a match make. I paint and refinish hardwood floors and one of the best and longest lasting clear finishes I've used is Pro Finish by Parks.
