Best Answer

Copper offers a good combination of good conductivity and fairly low cost. Special metal platings offer better corrosion protection if acids or other liquids might be present.

this is because alkali is good conductor of electricity and it is used in alkaline batteries

Is phosphoric acid a good conductor?

It is a conductor, and is used in some batteries. Saying it is a good conductor might be a stretch though, seeing as almost all metals would be considered better conductors.

Is air a good conductor of electricity?

Air is a relatively-very-poor electrical conductor. If it were any good as a conductor, then you would need to keep your spare batteries in vacuum containers, to preventtheir becoming discharged through the air between their terminals.

yes because that is why batteries contain carbon

Is graphite a giant metallic?

Graphite is an allotrope of carbon and is semi metallic. It is a very good conductor of electricity and is also used for steel making, in batteries, brake lining and in pencils.

Why is a metal spoon a conductor why?

Depending on what type of metal the spoon is made out of it is a conductor of electricity. To make the spoon magnetic you would have to constantly charge the spoon with electricity to magnetize the metal base, IE:a nail with a wire coiled around it and charged with two D batteries. All you have to do is coil a wire around the spoon base and connect both ends of the wire(BRASS) to two D batteries and you should have a small electro magnet.
