I would say A good move set for alakazam would be...
1.Psychic
2.Focus blast
3.Ice punch/fire punch/ thunder punch
and 4. Energy ball/shadow ball
or 5. psycho cut
Or maybe even recover.
Any of those should make him Awesome!

My suggestion for Alakazam would be- (Held Item- Choice Specs.)
-Psychic
-Focus Blast
-Energy Ball
-Trick
Choice specs gives you 50% more power to Spec. ATT, but you're limited to only using one move.
This combination will allow you to do massive damage to other Pokemon. I wouldn't suggest calm
mind or recover because of Alakazam's low defense, and Spec. DEF, chances are you won't have time
to use those moves. However, you will be able to OHKO a lot of Pokemon with Choice Specs. With this
move set, your Alakazam will have moves SUPER-EFFECTIVE to:
Water- Energy Ball
Ground-Energy Ball
Rock- Energy Ball, Focus Blast
Normal- Focus Blast
Ice- Focus Blast
Dark- Focus Blast
Steel- Focus Blast
Fighting- Psychic
Poison- Psychic
Your EV (Effort Value) spread should be
252- SPEC. ATT
252- Speed
6- HP

A good move set is boosted by items and stats. My Infernape has a 360 attack stat if it holds a Choice Band. So I teach it Flare Blitz, Focus Blast/Close Combat, Stone Edge, and uncommonly but helpfully Earthquake. It can be helpful against Empoleon. Good luck!
