∙ 9y agoThere are many charities that claim to help Autism, however many actually act against Autistic people - for example Autism Speaks is the best known charity for Autism, but they commonly use hate speech against Autistic people to increase their profits, very little money they raise go to help Autistic people, they seek to 'cure' Autism which is a bad thing as to eradicate Autism would be to eradicate Autistic people, and they support questionable causes like anti-vaccination research.
It's important to research Autism charities - avoid charities that use the words 'cure' or 'epidemic' as this is a sure sign they work against Autistic people by feeding fears about Autism and seeking to eradicate Autistic people, and opt for charities with Autistic people in leadership.
One of the best Autism charities is Autism Self-Advocacy Network - as the name suggests it is made-up primarily of Autistic people, so money is directed into helping Autistic people.
