According to me its depend upto you which starter you like ,I took chimchar as starter and then shinx for elecric type then mantine for water & flying both needs ,ralts for psychic ,gible as a tough Pokemon & riolu as some cool ,powerfull & fighting type.Now they are at lvl 100 and my most powerful team.

Palkia, your starter (I chose empoleon), steelix, azelf, plus two of your choice. Make sure the level of your starter and palkia are at a minimum of 60, then it's quite easy.

Turtwig is the second best starter, the best is chimchar. I think that turtwig is a good starter because sometimes it can be hard to find any good grass Pokemon, piplup is ok but personally i wouldn't get it because once you have started the game there is an amazing choice of good water Pokemon (there is a LOT of water Pokemon) , my favourite is milotic which i love to bits. chimchar is very good because there aren't many fire Pokemon at all. i have started with each of these Pokemon and my favourite is chimchar but at the moment i have torterra which is the 3rd stage of turtwigs........thing and he is doing well and i would recommend him!! but if you would want a good starter that isn't one that everybody gets then i would get turtwig because everybody gets chimchar by bethwhoknowsall (sorry this was a bit long!!)

Well, it depends. what Pokemon do you have? for example, if your starter is completely evolved and a pretty good level that Pokemon should be on your team. Or you could think of which are all your strongest and use them. Hope this makes sense and helps:)
