What is a good team to have in Pokemon emerald?

A well balanced team would most likely have Fire/Grass/Water/Electric/Flying/Rock(or fighting). Well for me i used a Linoone as a mule pretty much for strength, rock smash, and cut because those are probably the weakest of the HM's other then flash. Then i just caught a Magikarp(evolved to Gyrados) and a Skarmory. It is a decent team but i did a lot of training and at the end at the Elite 4 i ended up adding Wobbuffet and Raquaza to my team. My only weakness was that i didn't have a grass Pokemon on my team.

My team is:

Blaziken/Walrein/Armaldo/Altaria/Ludicolo/Gardevoir. Very strong team.

I think before the elite 4 u should have these

Blaziken-Fire Blast,Overheat,Blaze Kick,Hyper Beam

Rayquaza-Hyper Beam,Thunder,Fire Blast,Outrage(u can also have Blizzard)

Altaria-Ice Beam,Fire Blast,Dragonbreadth,Hyper Beam

Flygon-Hyper Beam,Fire Blast,Crunch,Dragonbredth

Gardevoir-Psychic,Hyper Beam,Fire Blast, Thunder

Aggron/hariyama

A balanced team would be like this:

You always need a water type in every game. Because there are so many, there is a variety so I sometimes have two.

Try Swampert and Gyarados. Their typing means that they have no same weakness at all!

You also need a flying type. The best on the game is by far Crobat.

To beat water types you need either a grass or an electric type. Try not to have both. Personally I like Sceptile, but if you can't trade Breloom and Manectric are also fairly good.

You will probably also want a rock or a fighting or a ground type for massive power. Aggron Flygon and Machamp are the best, but for a first time player or if you are unable to trade Haryama is pretty good.

Finally, you will need a pyschic or a dark type. The best you can get in the game is Metacross, but to get past the elite four, Gardevoir is your best bet. Grumpig is very mediocre indeed and Alakazam's defenses are appauling.

Although people say so there is no need to have a water, a grass and a fire. Grass has many weaknesses and fire has generally poor defense.

I think the guy above me doesnt have that great of a team :P

it depends on your starter but a good team would be...

Sceptile(my choice but optional)

Hariyama(No if you chose torchic)

Crawdaunt

Gardevoir

Manectric

Skarmory or Swellow

The following is just a suggestion from a person whos played every Pokemon game. Torchic then I highly suggest you pick up a Lotad(water/grass type), Shroomish, Zubat, Abra, and Absol(if you want to easily beat the game pick up rayquaza before the elite four.

My team of only 1 defeat is Flygon ( with Dragonbreath, Solar beam Fly and Dig)

Swampert (with Surf Dive Rock Tomb and Mudshot)

Metagross ( with Confusion Psychic Metal claw and Pursuit)

Latios ( with Luster Purge Fly Dragonbreath and Recover)

Zangoose( with Crush claw False swipe Focus punch and Aerial ace)

The last slot is usually a Pokemon I need too level up or a Pokemon I use too mow down the elite four too raise money ( IE Groudon , Kyogre ,Rayquaza etc)
