Best is a subjective term. For ease of working, limestone, dolomite, or marble would be good. For strength and durability, igneous rocks such as granite or basalt would have the desired characteristics.
House bricks are made from clay rocks. The clay is usually grey to start with and after firing turns red. The clay usually contains enough organic material to sustain the firing process after the kiln is lit.
Mud bricks are made from soil (mud) and straw, they are usually sun dried.
The hard rock that is useful for building bridges and buildings is known as granite. Granite is also used for building counter tops.

You can sell granite. Granite is primarily used in the construction of buildings, as it is a durable rock. Therefore, if you wish to sell granite, you will probably have to sell it as a building material.
Now, see, if you built a building at the epicenter of an earthquake, no matter what what ground is there, the building will inevitably collapse. Near an earthquake's epicenter, though, is a different story. The best ground would definitely be solid, packed soil. The best foundation for a building would be isolated, unless you had a smaller building like a house, which would be better off with an anchored foundation. The best type of building would have steel frame crossties-only on a skyscraper or tall, large office building like in New York, though.
Many igneous rocks are hard, dense, and durable. People throughout history have used igneous rock for tools and building materials.
Because they are so hard, Igneous rocks make useful road building materials. When sheets of igneous rock are cut and polished, they are used inside buildings such as banks and offices, and are also used as gravestones. There are different types of igneous rock, therefore each type has its own uses e.g: Granite: Used for long lasting monuments, for trim and decoration on buildings. Pumice: Because they are so light, it is used quite often as a decorative landscape stone. If grounded to a powder, it is used as an abrasive in polish compounds and in Lava soap. Crystalline Igneous rocks can be used for jewelery and other similar things.
Granite is one kind of hard rock.

Most modern bridges are steel structure or framework. Limestone, dolomite and marble have been used in many historic buildings attesting to their durability.
