The absence of commercials means that viewer ratings are less important than with other broadcasters. Minority groups have content produced for them and difficult documentary topics are tackled without the risk of advertisers removing funding. The lack of commercials and the programming that is provided makes for a television and radio broadcaster that is the envy of the world. There is no other broadcaster like it and long may it remain the independent corporation that is has been since 1929.
