A black and white 'spotty' horse could be any number of colors. It could be an Appaloosa or Appaloosa marked horse, or it could be a pinto marked horse depending on how big the 'spots' are and what breed or cross it may be.

A horse with a black and white patched pattern is known as "piebald". It is a variation of the "pinto" pattern that is created with patches of pink skin which can only grow hairs with no pigment (white) next to grey or black skin which can create pigmented hairs of just about any other color.
