The human race continues to encroach on wild animals territory - bringing them into close contact with cobras (and other wild animals) inevitably increasing the chance of the cobra's life cycle being interrupted.
The life cycle of a king cobra begins with an egg. The mother cobra makes a nest for her babies and guards them for 2 to 3 months. When they hatch, the young are already at least 18 inches long and can take care of themselves. They go out on their own immediately. When they become sexually mature they reproduce, laying the eggs for the next generation. Cobras can live to be about 20 years old in the wild.
King cobra's may or may not have the same mate for life, but even if they do will only get together during mating seasons.
