What is a limerick poem?
A limerick is a silly poem with five lines. They are often funny or nonsensical. It has a rhyming scheme of AABBA and the third and fourth lines are shorter than the other three.
e.g. This one of Edward Lear's nonsense rhymes...
There was a wine waiter from Wapping
Drew corks for a week without stopping
He cried "It's too bad,
All the practice I've had
And yet cannot prevent them from popping."
